Paul’s focus is on helping to expand WWF-Canada’s work on Barren-ground caribou and marine conservation in the Arctic. He brings to WWF experience as an Inuk lawyer and as premier, with experience balancing the interests of the federal government and the central Inuit concern for the health of wildlife. Paul is a survivor of both federal day and residential schools with a BA and LLB.

Through research, advocacy, and engagement with Indigenous communities and international forums like the Arctic Council and the International Maritime Organization, Andrew works on reducing the impact of shipping on the marine environment. Andrew attended Trent Univeristy and focused on culture, english and Indigenous studies.

Brandon is part of WWF-Canada’s Arctic Program team and the lead for the Arctic Species Conservation Fund. In his role, Brandon is helping expand WWF’s work on species conservation in the Arctic, ensuring that what we do is scientifically sound, incorporates Indigenous knowledge and is in line with the priorities of affected communities. Brandon holds a BSc in Wildlife Biology and an MSc in Animal Nutrition and Metabolism both from the University of Guelph.

Mark serves as WWF-Canada’s point person for oil and gas-related issues in the Canadian Arctic. He has a Master’s degree in environmental economics from McGill University and an undergraduate degree in geography from the University of British Columbia.

A passionate advocate for sustainable fisheries across Canada and beyond, Doug is involved with helping expand WWF-Canada’s work on sustainable fisheries management and community fisheries development in the Arctic. He holds a BSocSc with Joint Honours in Political Science and Communication from the University of Ottawa.

Martha helps drive progress towards habitat-friendly renewable energy deployment in the Arctic by building relationships in Nunavut, working closely with communities to develop green energy projects, and increase energy literacy. She has a Bachelor’s of Applied Science in mechanical engineering from the University of Waterloo, and a PhD in photovoltaic engineering from the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia.

As part of the Arctic team based in our Iqaluit office, Erin works primarily on Arctic marine conservation projects, including marine planning and marine protected areas. She also helps generate and build support for WWF-Canada’s conservation objectives in Nunavut and acts as an effective conduit for local concerns and issues to be addressed in WWF project planning communications. Erin holds a Master’s in Marine Management from Dalhousie University

Will provides the technical capacity in spatial/data analysis required to support WWF-Canada’s work in the Arctic. Will translates data into information, and information into the insights needed to ensure our work is effective and scientifically grounded. Will holds a BSc in Forest Conservation and GIS, as well as an advanced certificate in GIS applications.

Hussein has worked on marine conservation initiatives in Canada and abroad. Now in Canada’s Pacific, He implements WWF’s conservation partnership with the Gitga’at Nation and works with partners to reduce the impacts of shipping on whales and advance marine protected areas. Hussein holds degrees in Environment & Resource Science and Marine Management.

Aurelie contributes to marine planning and our work on marine protected areas, exploring opportunities to expand our sustainable shipping work on the east coast while identifying policy and solutions to address shipping impacts on marine ecosystems. She holds a PhD in marine conservation science from Dalhousie University.

Victoria’s work on WWF-Canada’s Oceans Team is based in Newfoundland and Labrador. Victoria leads habitat restoration for capelin, Atlantic salmon and Arctic char. She protects and restores crucial habitats by leveraging partnerships in NL with governments, rightsholders, researchers, and hunting/angling groups. Victoria is a fish ecologist, she holds a Bachelor of Science (honours) in marine biology and is a PhD candidate with Memorial University.

Through working on oceans governance and BC-specific projects, Kim manages and implements WWF-Canada’s initiatives to reduce the impacts of shipping on the marine environment. She’s also responsible for marine planning and protection initiatives in BC, including Marine Protected Area engagement. She holds a Masters in resource and environmental management.

Brianne believes little fish have big influence. Based in WWF-Canada’s Halifax office, she oversees strategy development and implementation of our national forage fish initiative, helping to strengthen the scientific basis for this important work. Her PhD thesis looked at effects of river regulation on forage fish populations.

Miako drives WWF’s marine protected areas and sustainable shipping work on the east coast. In this role, she leads cooperative research and advocacy partnerships between ENGOs, academia and industry to identify an implement solutions to address shipping impacts on marine ecosystems and whales. She holds an M.Sc. in Environmental Managment and Policy from Lund University in Sweden and an undergraduate degree in Biology and Environmental Studies.

As a member of the Oceans Team, Sarah supports work on marine planning and protection. She also works to ensure that marine renewable energy development is sustainable and to reduce the amount of plastic entering our oceans. Sarah has a BSc in marine biology and a masters in resource and environmental management from Dalhousie University.

Jacklyn focuses on the Food for All campaign, conducting research and developing conservation strategies for the Pacific region as part of WWF-Canada’s national forage fish initiative. Jacklyn joins WWF-Canada with over 10 years experience as an applied marine biologist and has a degree in Marine Biology with honours from Dalhousie University.

Simon provides strategic guidance for WWF-Canada’s national freshwater and climate work. He’s also invaluable for his work around the Saint John River in New Brunswick, organizing the annual River Summit and bringing together a diversity of actors to create a community that sees the river as a shared asset of vital importance.

After launching the Wild Rivers Project and co-ordinating WWF-Canada’s involvement in the Fisheries Act and Impact Assessment Act modernization processes, Heather is now empowering individuals and organizations to have impact via funding programs and supporting technology-based solutions. She holds a BSc from McMaster University and a MES from the University of Waterloo.

Anthony is a freshwater specialist and trained ecologist with 10+ years of conservation experience. Anthony developed the #LessSalty campaign to reduce excessive road salt use in Ontario and also supports data management projects at WWF-Canada. Anthony holds an Ontario wetland evaluator certification (MNRF), an M.Sc.of freshwater biology (Université du Québec à Montréal) and an Hon. B.Sc. in marine and freshwater biology (University of Guelph).

As a member of WWF-Canada’s freshwater team, Catherine evaluates the health of Canada’s watersheds and leads our participation in STREAM, helping community-based water groups monitor their own waters. She holds an MSc in Physical Geography from the University of Ottawa, where she studied the impact of thawing permafrost on water.

Rinjan supports WWF’s country offices in their efforts to conserve big cats, such as tigers and snow leopards, including preparing climate-integrated species conservation plans. Rinjan also provides science support to the science, research and innovation unit at WWF-Canada. Rinjan holds a msters’ degree in natural resource management and a PhD in conservation biology.

As a member of WWF’s Science, Research and Innovation team, Emily’s work focuses on protecting wildlife in Canada, with an emphasis on species at risk recovery. She has worked on and led a wide range of projects since joining WWF-Canada in 2006, including the highly acclaimed 2017 Living Planet Report Canada. She holds a BSc in zoology from the University of Guelph, and an MSc in conservation biology from DICE at the University of Kent.

Jessica supports WWF-Canada’s Science, Research and Innovation team through research, management of big data, and both qualitative and quantitative analyses, providing an evidence base for WWF-Canada’s conservation work. Noteworthy analyses include the Living Planet Report for Canada and the Wildlife Protection Assessment. Jessica holds a Master’s of Science in Environmental Sustainability.

Joyce Arabian is a remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) expert at WWF-Canada. Joyce is central in managing spatial analysis projects to ensure that our conservation advocacy and actions are based on strong, quantitative, conservation science and presented in easy-to-use formats.  She comes to WWF-Canada with a M.Sc. from the University of Toronto, where she focused on key components of carbon models and climate change research.

Pete leads WWF-Canada’s species conservation work. He joined WWF-Canada in 1996 as director of the endangered species program and has also led WWF-Canada’s Arctic conservation work. He now focuses on restoration of native plant habitats in urban areas to reverse wildlife declines. He has a degree in zoology and a D.Phil. in marine ornithology.

Jarmila manages the In the Zone and Go Wild Community Grants programs, both of which strive to increase Canadians’ engagement with nature, especially in urban areas. Jarmila holds a Bachelor of Science, Environment and Biology from the University of Toronto.

Kathy focuses on the development and delivery of national engagement programs that engage Canadians directly in helping nature thrive in their communities. This includes Go Wild School Grants, Living Planet @ School and Living Planet @ Campus. Kathy holds a double degree in Biology and Psychology, a B.Sc in Environmental Science, a certificate in Environmental Assessment from the University of Waterloo and a post-graduate certificate in Fundraising & Marketing from Humber College.

Sarah engages French-speaking Canadians into taking hands-on action to help protect nature through the development of The Great Canadian Shoreline Cleanup, Living Planet at School, Living Planet at Campus and Go Wild School Grants. She has a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in management from Audencia Business School, with a specialization in entrepreneurship.

Laurence is responsible for communicating about the conservation and mobilization efforts lead by the Quebec program, and for Francophone-media outreach for all WWF-Canada’s work. Laurence also oversees events for the Quebec program. She holds a B.A. in Communications and an Advanced graduate diploma in Environmental Management.

Steve oversees WWF-Canada’s urban biodiversity program, Biopolis, which serves as an important hub for local projects that help preserve Canada’s urban biodiversity. He began his career in 1990 in British Columbia, where he carried out inventories of Marbled Murrelet and forest birds.  Since then he has worked on multiple inventories of birds, bats, fish and other taxonomic groups. Steve holds a BSc in biology from UQAM in Montreal.
