Biopolis is a dynamic and evolving reference tool that adapts to current issues and needs identified by stakeholders working to enhance urban biodiversity. The process that led to the creation of an urban biodiversity hub in Montreal began in 2012. In 2015, WWF-Canada and Concertation Montréal, with the help of an advisory committee, finalized the vision, the mission and the identity of the hub, known today as Biopolis.
Montreal was the first city to have its projects and expertise celebrated on Biopolis. The program expanded to have a national reach in 2020. With the help of our bioneers, we are now mapping urban biodiversity projects across Canada.
